I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 21 years of combined experience as a Psychotherapist and Behavior Therapist. I have a beautiful and private office in Brookfield, Connecticut. I specialize in working with adult individuals and couples. I enjoy helping my clients work through things that get in the way of a happy and peaceful life. Using various modalities, we can address anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and conflict. We can address many feelings that are associated with chronic illness. By exploring self-esteem issues, together we will create a new perspective based on present and past events. I can help parents work with their children whether they have behavioral problems or are on the autism spectrum (ASD), making changes and learning many strategies to improve the family dynamic.
I also specialize in grief counseling. Grief can be from the loss of a loved one, but also from the loss of a life that was planned or hoped for, but has changed. This can include but not be limited to relationships, losing a job, or opportunities.
As a Medication Assisted Treatment Specialist (MATS) for opiate addiction, I have a true understanding of not only how addiction affects an individual, but also the toll it takes on family members. We explore how to remain supportive without this disease consuming your every thought. With the MATS certification, I can help you explore how medications that you may be taking can affect not only how you physically feel, but psychologically as well.
Although you will identify changes you'd like to make, these goals can be changed along the way. Helping you achieve your goals, I work with a holistic approach; using therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Behavior therapy, Logotherapy, Narrative therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and many more. I teach my clients skills to improve their communication skills and mediate their relationships by using strategies that allow them to feel heard, and how to let the other person feel heard -to reduce defensiveness and lower the temperature quickly. These techniques can be used at home, work, with friends- whenever needed!
As a side note, although working in a therapeutic environment is focused and serious work, we often have fun figuring out different ways to approach change.

Learning to create a life you will be happy with, within the limitations of your own circumstances. Focusing on the positives in your life. This modality helps with psychological well-being while reducing anxiety, improving mood and insight, improves relationships and helps with living one's best life.
One of the most useful ways to help yourself.
This form of psychotherapy helps you to have an awareness about your thinking. It can help you to challenge thinking that gets in the way of a psychologically healthy perspective and teaches you to modify those thoughts for a more positive outcome.
One of my favorite therapies!
This is also known as REBT.
This Behavioral Therapy technique teaches you how to challenge a particular pattern of thinking, explore fully what happened that led to this thought pattern and the consequence afterward. Next, challenge and replace the thought with a different perspective and your outcomes change as well, resulting in less anxiety and pain, and possibly feeling different about yourself and others. Learning this is life changing!
